Artwork for new exhibition at Cambridge University Botanic Garden

This is my latest artwork for the PlaMatSu exhibition at the University of Cambridge Botanic Garden.

The illustration depicts a number of plants which have very special cell and surface characteristics which researchers have discovered by looking at their surfaces using electron microscopes. I have used the monochrome photographs obtained of these super magnified structures to form a collâge background of the artwork. The whole flowers, leaves and berries are then formed into a layer floating above the background. So this is an example of the sort digital collâges I create, in this case using mainly watercolours and photoshop techniques. It has been a real pleasure doing this work for the Botanic Garden.
